This was a lucky shot using AV priority, 3200 TMAX BW film rated at 1600, and a little window light hitting perfectly just by pure luck.

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this shot!!!!Michael Warnock February 07, 2006
Question. I see shadow on the leg and foot but where is the corresponding shadow that should be cast on the floor beside the forward foot? There is no shadow around the forward foot at all. I second the above question about grain. 1600 and not a spec!?!Lucky shoot indeed.
The shadows (or lack of) and apparent light sources do not jive. I don't mean to be harsh or suggest that the shot is not what it is represented to be. Simply, I would like to know how you eliminated the shadow mentioned above and how you avoided any grain whatsoever while using 1600?

Mike, hmmm. Never thought of that.Shooting with 3200, you understand the sensitivity to light. There was no shawdow. It was a peep of window light. If you live in my area, I'd be happy to show you the neg. It was taken in a very small room on the Queen Mary in Long Beach.
There just wasn't enough light to cast shadow. In PS, if I remember right (it's been a while), I increased the contrast to make the light look more dramatic than it really is. The original is a bit boring.
By the way, just for the record, I'd do the same thing in the dark room, so it's not a trick.
