Candlelit cemetery
Uploaded: July 05, 2002
The shot was taken on the All Saints Day, when the Polish people pay tribute to their deceased members of families and close ones. The available light was only from the candles burning on the tombstones. Exposure 30 secs.

The candle light and the long exposure have produced a fascinating image. Very nice! #6486Robert Pranagal July 06, 2002

Rhonda,Thanks for your kind words. I took a couple of pics that night, but this one seemed to stand out.
It's great to hear than someone else likes it, too.
Thanks again. #9555

You are quit welcome Robert. I think you did a great job with it and I also liked the story behind it.Robert Pranagal July 07, 2002
Actually, there is yet another story behind this picture. The tombstone in the foreground is of Klemens Szaniawski - a renowned Polish writer. It may be hard to read with this resolution, but if you look hard, you'll recognize the surname.
However, at the time of taking I did not know this. I was so concentrated on the exposure and composition, that I actually did not know what I was shooting!
I was showing the pics to a friend of mine a couple of weeks later, and he says: "You've got a nice pic of Szaniawski's tobmstone here", and I go "What?"
It was only then, that I read what was written on the tombstone...
Anyway, thank you again for your appreciation.
