One of my very favorites of yours Beth. I love the effect from the feather reflections in the drops and they way they float across with the big eye in the background. Very nice flow and rhythm. #3688167Christopher Delaney December 23, 2006
Great stuff! How did you do this? I tried to do something to this effect with no avail! I used a clean slate of glass and put a few things under it, but could not get any of the droplets to show an image. I would love to know how this was done. I won't tell, pinkie promise! #3734977Elizabeth J. Bernier December 24, 2006
Hi Chris...I never mind sharing info...I think as photographers we should try to help one another when we can.Honestly I'm not sure if my info will help or not...I tried to share what I did with someone else before but they couldn't get the same result...not sure why...but I did use glycerin for the drops instead of water...and I do believe that the only light source in the room was shining only on the feather....the pane of glass was several inches above the feather and I remember I had to move around the glass/drops until I saw the reflection in the drops through my lens...and I used my Canon 100mm macro lens...I purposely ran one drop into another with my finger for the long drop. The main thing I would suggest is just to keep playing with this idea...that's what I did when I did it...it took a while of my trying before I got it right that day ..I wanted something a little different from what I typically saw others doing so it would be unique.Hope this helps...good luck with yours! #3735753Christopher Delaney December 24, 2006
Thanks so much! ? is glycerin a type of oil, where can I get it? I may have something around the house simular. When I began this hobby I never knew how many beautiful things were in my own backyard and kitchen sink! I am finding out that photography makes you look at the world around us so differently, its awesome. Thanks again! #3736115Elizabeth J. Bernier December 24, 2006
Chris the glycerine I used is generally used in baking...there is another type but it is not ingestable, and I don't know how that one works for the purpose we are using it...the main purpose in the baking type is that it keeps icing soft and creates a sheen ...if you can't find it I was thinking corn syrup would work the same manner,it's clear like the glycerine and quite thick in much the same way ...with the glycerine.. that is mainly found in any store that specializes in baking items...however I found mine in a Michael's craft store believe it or not! If you have one near you just ask the clerk to show you where it is...they don't tend to keep much stocked and it can be dificult to spot in all the other goods there.Merry Christmas to you! :) #3736285Christopher Delaney December 24, 2006

Excellant photo Elizibeth. I might try getting some glycerine also. Is the blue from the table beneath the feather? The drops really create a great sharpness effect and increases the realism of it so much. Congratulations!Angela Garibay February 13, 2007
Elizabeth, what a lovely photo!! and I am proud of you that you were able to achieve those effects on your own ratther than photoshop. While I computers are great and so do the results, I think that your own creativity is priceless! Keep up the wonderful work! #3945390Chris Budny February 27, 2007
