This is me in the front of Frank Ryder's super chipmonk doing aerobatics during an airshow in Atlanta. I had the camera mounted on the wing with a remote to shoot during flight.

I actually shot a roll of 36exp. I don't get sick with things like this, but the key is to go to Waffle House first and eat a huge breakfast. He took my thru his whole batch of tricks which include a hammerhead into a backslide and finally a spiraling spin. Fun, Fun Fun! #396248

Wow! You were mad enough to fix your camera of the wing!!! Moreover during an aerobatics airshow! That's great (and a little crazy too). I saw people doing this on gliders wings...but the flight conditions aren't the same as aerobatics!!! A strong picture!!!...and souvenir for you!

Fred #466051

Michael Brown May 28, 2004

This is really cool! Love it!!
Now, ................ who was out on that wing taking the shot?

hehehe!!!

Hi Cathy! I was browsing through your gallery which has far too many great images in it to comment on separately but stopped short at this one as I instantly recognized the De Havilland Chipmunk.
It was 55yrs ago that I too had the front seat in a Royal Air Force Chipmunk
back in the UK. A big difference was that this trainer had the original 160hp engine whilst your Super Chipmunk has twice that plus a whole bunch of major mods that made it much more aerobatic. A piece of related trivia is that the Queen's husband, Prince Philip took his first flying lesson in an RAF Chipmunk.
Thank you sharing and bringing back some good memories which very much pre-date Waffle House restaurants. And I am sure that your pilot was grateful that you didn't share your breakfast with him whilst up there. I well remember having my brown paper "vomit bag" tucked into my parachute harness straps and being warned that if I got any puke on the aircraft I would get to clean it up as soon as we landed! #7377289
