Ack...I'm having a terrible day! My apologies to everyone who wrote a comment on the previous post of this photo... I deleted it accidentally when uploading this version. I truly appreciate you taking the time to comment. Lori and Paul, thanks for pointing out the lack of detail in the black areas of the fur on the previous version. I hope you enjoy this one better. I have the HARDEST time getting photos posted on the web to look right. The colours are always wrong, and usually there is too much contrast or the focus ends up looking soft, etc. I usually end up getting fed up and settling for "close enough”. If anyone has any tips on this that they are willing to share, I'd really appreciate it. #98394

WOW, Lonnie! I'm flattered! Thanks so much for such a GENEROUS comment. I'm fond of this one too... had it printed on a T-shirt as StoneHorse Studios "logowear" to advertise my site when I’m out taking photos. All I need now is summer weather to wear it in (or have jackets made). Thanks again!!! #386806

Marie, Jill, K, Gary, Nobi, Murry, Colette, Susan, Allan, William, Cathy, Mark, Cindy, Jean & Karen, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!! I really appreciate all of your support and encouragement!

Jean - it's actually a Sigma 50-500mm EX, and it's a great bargain for the money (of course this is always relative when talking about camera equipment!). It sounded too good to be true, and they gave me a 14 day tryout period with a hassle free return policy. Needless to say it never went back. It's performed beyond my expectations at the 300-500mm range, good in the 200's and average (at best)in the short ranges. That's fine with me; I'd rather use my MUCH smaller & lighter lenses for the shorter ranges anyway. For super-telephoto work, it's a real gem!

Bill - actually I did still fiddle with this image after the close of the Feb competition in(vain)effort to get the web version to look closer to the Master file. The final version that I had decided on is not this one, and is posted here, if you're interested:
