Thanks for your kind comments. I really like the photo, too, because one can infer the bear movement up the tree from the tracks, without encountering the bear.

My initial reactio was to show one set of marks, but the more compelling picture was the set of climbing marks.

I am uploading a macro shot of one set of marks. These marks are likely the "bear hug" marks made by the claws as the bear started his ascent. #360391
