Is this a night shot? It looks as though it was a long exposure taken by full moon light. I could be wrong though.

I do like this shot. The angle is fantastic, and so is the lighting.

You think this looks like a night shot? I don't see it as moonlight. Looks like a very bright, but clear, bit of sunlight from the right to me. I'm assuming it's also at a high altitude for the air to be so transparent. Reminds me of Australia--the colors of the rock and the blueness of the sky, but I wonder if a grad filter was used to boost the blueness. I've read you don't need the boost in Australia. Sky's already bright blue. Gotta get there one of these days! Now, if only my own photos were this haze-free... :^( #531

This is an image from my Arches National Park Series. It was shot at Sunrise and No Filters were used beyond a Circ-Polarizer. Agfa 50 iso RSX II Slide Film, pentax ZX5N, Tamron 28-300 mm, Bogen tripod, Shot while laying on the ground to expand the perspective.

There were a couple of possibilities. One was sunrise, and the other was moonshot.

This is my reasoning:

1) It couldn't possibly be an early evening shot, i.e. dusk or sunset, since the light was so cool - very white and not golden in colour.

2) It couldn't possibly be a day shot since the sun, as you point out, is too low in the sky and the colour of the sky in the upper-left corner is very dark.

3) This means that the shot was either taken at early sunrise or that it was taken by full moon with a long exposure.

I should've guessed early morning though since there were no star trails in a clear blue sky.

Cheers,
Glenn
