Hello Johannes,
how did you seperate the children from the blue background, keeping all that detail in the hair?

Johannes Kornelius September 19, 2006

Hi Stefan, I use Primatte 2.0 plugin for Photoshop to separate the subject from the bluescreen. You may see the plugin tutorial in:

www.digitalanarchy.com

If you want to extract manually try to search for "photoshop extract hair" on the net. You will find some tutorials on this subject. #3329903

Hi Johannes,
thank you for your tip. I've looked at your gallery and I'm fascinated. Great work johannes! You make a lot of parents very happy! I suppose you have a library of foregrounds and backgrounds and some objects and then you compine them with the young kids.

Did you shoot the kids in a studio, maybe with a certain simple background to easely seperate them?

Best regards,
Stefan #3355141

Johannes Kornelius September 28, 2006

Hi Stefan,
Thanks for visiting my gallery. From the first time I started, I did not have any painted background. I bought only a plain blue background with one thought to create something out of it. At that time I was hoping to create outdoor scenes as natural as possible inside a small space studio. It's a long struggle but it is rewarding. The backgrounds were painstakingly added one at a time. I have made a few themes, such as Little Garden, Cloudscape, Sunset.

Some of the digital backgrounds have multi layers. Taken photo is inserted in between foreground and background layer to create more realistic photo. For every subject must be shot against plain background. In this case I use blue for more effective extraction.

I will add one sample of sunset with the original shot and studio setup to give you some idea shortly after this.
