What amazes me more than the quickness and agility of a bird is a photographer that can capture them! I just started trying to capture birds in flight and now have a healthy respect for those who succeed! Nice shot! #3408949Sheryl A. Hudson October 05, 2006

Was just looking through your gallery and came upon this image again. I had assumed it was a seagull, but with your mention of quickness and agility, and the wingspan I'm wondering if it's not some kind of shearwater. I've been a bit interested in Shearwaters because I hear there's an uninhabited island around here, that's protected land (no one's allowed on it) and it seems to be a migratory stop for Shearwaters. They say that in the evening, there are thousands upon thousands that come back to the island to roost and it's an incredible sight. Searching on the internet I came across a short film of them flying, and indeed their swiftness and agility was unbelievable. They were darting here and there so quickly it was clearly impossible to for the person filming to pan with any success close up. Great shot! #3614986Sheryl A. Hudson November 22, 2006
