Ice Storm
Uploaded: January 08, 2004
I shot this yesterday during the transition from snow to freezing rain. It has rained all night and now the ice is three times this thick on everything. We have been stuck at home since Monday and I have no idea when we will get out again!

Ron when I first looked at this photo in a thumb nail size it looked like a snake! The ice is really thick. I hate when that happens as a lot of people usually loose their power to boot. Nice image by the way! #85970Patricia A. Kuniega January 08, 2004
Love the way this ice follows all the curves! It sure looks thick! You're better off being stuck at home than out driving on this stuff! You guys are really getting bombarded! #323135Lori Ditlefsen January 08, 2004
Nice shot Ron. I took many of these kinds of shots yesterday during our ice storm. I had a blast taking macro shots of the ice and its beauty. #323164Carolyn M. Fletcher January 08, 2004
Glad it's you instead of me! Lucky you still have power! That one we had a couple years ago left us powerless for 2 weeks!! Our grass blades were over an inch thick. #323212Murry Grigsby January 08, 2004
Better to be stuck at home than work in an ice storm IMO :0) COOL shot Ron! #323215Ron Goldman January 08, 2004
Thank you Donna, Pat, Lori, Carolyn, and Murry! We are very lucky to still have power because there are thousands around here that don't! I just wish it would melt already! Hey Murry... Since I work from home, I guess I am stuck at work as well! Can't make deliveries in Portland, so I've gotten all the paperwork done! #323244Colette M. Metcalf January 08, 2004
Great image! #323396Claudia Kuhn January 08, 2004
Nice capture Ron - I figured you must be in Oregon, as we, in NY state had an ice storm on Sunday night, and now it's so cold that there's still ice on some of the trees. The lousy weather is good for some pic., if you can't go farther away than your yard. #323649Ron Goldman January 08, 2004
Thank you Colette and Claudia. I'm about 30 miles North of Portland Or. They are saying this is the worst storm in over 10 years. It was really pretty for an hour or two, but stuck at home for three days is getting old! #323731Carol Brill January 08, 2004
Great sharp detail and DOF in this shot, Ron, it very effectively illustrates the severity of the weather you've been hit with! Hope you thaw out soon!! #323808Ron Goldman January 09, 2004
Thank you Carol! The big thaw is finally starting today!!!!! #324375Karen Engelbreth January 09, 2004
