Storm Approaching Bodie

Uploaded: August 03, 2006

Description

This image of the Dechambeau Hotel at Bodie Ghost Town is a perfect example of how dramatic cloudscapes make the photograph. If you removed the clouds you'd have a picture of an old building. But the drama in the sky just seems to add a third dimension to the image. Out of my hundreds of images I get more questions and comments about this one than any other. Taken late November, very cold, and I had the whole place to myself!

You captured the mood very well. It looks like Bodie Calif.-Is it? My first time at Bodie, it looked very much like this! (Same weather) #496830

This place is so awesome. I was there in late October under 2 feet of snow and the only one in the town except for the rangers...It was a trip! I am headed back Sept 30th for 2 days ! This shot is wondereful, you really picked great dramatic weather to go! :-) #3343033
