From the cliff, huh? Very nice shot, timing and color. You might have wanted to tighten up on the crop to hide more of that close out, but, when you get all that nice blue, it is hard to cut it out. I like your shot. #81740Randy Walton December 21, 2003
Hi Michael, and thanks for your comments. Yes this was from the cliff in front of the bay looking directly out towards Molokai. This image was uncropped just for the reason you mentioned, the blues were so special with the change of light I didn't want to crop anything out. Glad you like it. #303367Kathleen T. Yes, Randy, very nice shot. I've photographed from that spot, and you got great color and clarity--love those blues. Good use of a fast shutter speed to catch the surfer at a great moment. And I agree that to crop out those blues would have been a shame. #303387Randy Walton December 22, 2003

Very nice Randy! Your photo really makes me want to be there! In addition to the wonderful colors mentioned above, I really like the line of the wave and how it leads to the surfer on the edge of the wave. The other surfer just behind her distracts my eye a little. Maybe you could try a crop with the right edge between the two, as close to the surfer on the right as possible, and then crop the top to get an 8 X 10 format? #318103Randy Walton January 04, 2004
Hi Pat. I'm sure you're right about the surfer paddling out in the bg, but I kinda liked the way the wave curved up through to the surfer then to the girl in the bg...to finish a c curve. I will be sure to try your suggestion though, thanks!Randy Walton January 06, 2004

Yeah, the surfer paddling out is a little distracting,BUT< to crop would have robbed the image of it's feeling of " immenseness ". I get that feeling of awe that a truly spectacular sunsetSign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
