CHERRIES Time

Uploaded: June 26, 2006

Description

Not knowing where to hide from scorching 104 F temerature near Portland, Oregon, i drove to Cherry Orchard and hide between trees shooting cherries..... The cherry has been associated with virginity from ancient times to modern, which probably arose from the red colored fruit with enclosed seed symbolizing the uterus. Maya, the virgin mother of Buddha, was offered fruit and general support by a holy cherry tree while she was pregnant. In European folklore, one's future spouse would be revealed by repeating the following rhyme while counting cherry pits: "This year, Next year, Sometime, Never". In Danish folklore, cherry trees housed forest demons. A good crop of cherries was insured by having the first ripe fruit eaten by a woman shortly after her first child is born. Cherries are symbolic of both good education and deception according to The Language of Flowers
