You saved the best for last! This is my favorite in the series: the colors are warm and vibrant and the ducks top off the shot. Excellent photo, Don! #2924145

Thanks so much everyone for the terrific comments. I think I've lost my ability to gage what a good photograph looks like...and my past 2 months results (or better put, lack of results) has definately emphasize it. Today marks the first time since my early days at BP over 2 years ago that I've gone consecutive months without a finalist, so it's truly a somber and sobering day for me and my photography. 61 images in two months, several of which I thought were pretty good, and not a thing to show for it??? Perhaps I've just been dealt a serious dose of reality and need to re-evaluate my photographic ability. #2924434

Beautiful Image Don!! =) #2924586

Donald, this is superb; all of them have been good but this is my favorite; love the composition and added interest of the ducks; your work is very good, keep shooting for the joy of it, not being concerned about the judges and awards. #2925359

Jenny Bosmans June 21, 2006

Don!! This is my favorite of this fantastic series!! :)
I've had 3 consecutive months of 'nothing' a while ago...and got over the slight disappointment very quickly!! Now I don't sit waiting eagerly to see if one of my images makes it! Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, my friend...so I think the comments and friendship of our friends is much more important than a medal! :
You're doing GREAT...remember this!! :) #2925550

Lovely image, Donald! :) #2926711

Marcie A. Fowler June 21, 2006

Have to say I agree with Jenny in regards to using the contest to gauge whether your images are good or not. Course we need to constantly re-evaluate our skills it's how we keep growing, but don't base your success on what the judges do or don't recognize.

And by the way this is a wonderful image to end a wonderful series with. Love the water fowl in the foreground. #2927332

Roxanne M. Bubar June 21, 2006

Fantastic colors and image. #2927888

Stephen Zacker June 21, 2006

Like this series. The birds in this one are nice #2927904

Pat Gamwell June 21, 2006

AMEN to Marcie & Jenny's comments, my friend! This is a great series & I really don't know which I like the best! They're ALL marvelous! Keep clickin' with your eye on self achievement! We love you. #2928887

Marsha S. Smith June 21, 2006

This shot is great!
Don't judge your ability by what anybody else thinks. As far as the finalist thing goes - there are thousands upon thousands of entries each month. If you made it to the finals with one or more images for several months thats great, but no slam to your ability if you miss a few months. Otherwise there would be some folks out there who would never get a finalist if the same people were chosen all the time.
Your images speak for themselves. They are great/your friends like them and you did too. So there! :) #2929354

Paula Dwyer June 21, 2006

Donald, this is my favorite from this beautiful series. Awesome capture!! :) #2930497

Mary K. Robison June 30, 2006

Don, for some reason, my eye was drawn to your "sunset series" in your gallery ~ beautiful images, all of them, and the ducks in this are the cherry on the sundae.
I read all the comments re: finalists vs friendship, and agree with everyone else... It helps to remember that there are 22,000(!) or more entries every month now, compared to 15,000 just a couple of years ago...
If the judges picked only 1% of that extra 7,000 each month, that's 70 newer entries that are replacing the finalist spots that many of us had grown accustomed to. "Do the math," as They say...
Bottom line: YOU know your work is prize-worthy, and so do the many members on the site who comment on every photo. Continue to share your beautiful captures, and let the chips/awards fall where they may. #2968836

I certainly have to agree with all of the remarks above.

I think this is beautiful, Donald! #2974906
