I love your balloon shots, Ron! I'm a new D200 user too. Having fun! Love your SMNP shots too! #2852340

Thanks Barb. I love the D200, it's a great camera, I can't put it down! #2852373

I just completed Tony's course on the camera. It had me doing in-camera multiples, overlays, and all the fun stuff! The best, bk #2852389

How are the BP courses, I was thinking of taking the Brenda Tharp course. Hey if you want to learn even more about the D200 you can get an eBook from Thom Hogan here: http://www.bythom.com/d200guide.htm

A great site for Nikon owners is here:

Good links, thanks. D200 course was fun, but if you've been using the camera for awhile, you're probably fine. I hear Brenda is really enthusiastic. I'd like to do a field workshop with her. #2852530

If you like taking macro shots I highly recommend taking a Nancy Rotenberg workshop or getting one of books. I just attended one of her workshops and it was fantastic. She's very inspirational. Here's her web site:

Thanks, Ron. I do have her site bookmarked and probably will like getting her book. I thought about her N. Carolina workshop beginning June 17 this year but went to the Smokeys with Tony Sweet instead. I hear her Macro weekends fill up fast. I'm going to W. VA with Jim Clark in early Oct, and thinking about one of these next year:

You'll love the Digital Landscape Workshop, I went on the one to the Smokies in May 2005. It was the biggest group they ever had. Vincent is a real fun guy and a photoshop expert. Joe wasn't with the group then but he's an expert on Nikon flash units. These workshops are non stop photography you barely have time to eat! We would get up at 5am and shoot go back to the hotel for a classroom session then go back out and shoot from 3pm till it got dark and then go back to the hotel and have an evening classroom session. Then get up the next day and do it again. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot. They have all sorts of Nikon equipment you can try out. Here's a link to photos from the Smokies workshop. I'm in the front row forth from the left wearing a Browns sweatshirt and a baseball cap.

That was a big group! I guess with 3-4 instructors, it should be fine. I like good student/teacher ratios.

Glad you thought it was good. Are the instructors available to look through your viewfinder and give some quidance that way if needed?. I always welcome another opinion.

Now to decide if I want Yosemite in late Feb (not sure about the cold) or Bryce.

I probably haven't been at this as long as you, but my gallery from the Smokeys is here:

Look in 'Featured Gallery' and there's one for Clingman's Dome on the left.

This is a great shot. The colors are amazing. #2852664

Ron Skinner June 04, 2006

The groups usually aren't that large but people kept begging to be added to the group probably cause it was one of the few workshops he has in the eastern part of the country. He added more assistants to help everyone out and everyone was very helpful, they would look through your viewfinders and you could look through theirs. Rob Shepard from Outdoor Photography was one of the guests and he was very helpful. Moose said he would never have a workshop that large again. Thanks for the link to your gallery, I'll be checking it out tomorrow. #2852669

Yeah, we've probably made this thread long enough with workshop talk. May see you in a future workshop!

Thanks! bk
