Multiband Butterflyfish - these guys/gals are camera-shy fish so while he/she was darting by me I had to move the camera in the swimming direction as the fish to capture one in focus. F4.8, 1/125sec, ISO-50, macro setting, Honaunau, Hawaii @ 9:28am - camera in it's underwater housing

Beutiful shot, Michele! The detail, color and clarity are superb! You didn't tell us how many attempts it took you to capture one of these flighty critters in such great focus...! #428996Michele Jarvis April 18, 2006
Brain, Thanks for the compliments and kind words of encouragement. This little fish is about 2.5 inches long and he was about 12 feet down. So it took 5 attempts for me to surface get enough air and dive down far enough away as to not spook him and then slowly swim parallel to him to understand his movement patterns and compose the picture and get a clear shot. #2657772Brian Lobdell April 18, 2006
