This is a wonderful woman named Gloria...She wanted very much to show me her wedding photos taken 60 years ago.(Her husband passed 2 years ago)I asked her if she would mind me taking a few shots and being the lady she is...she said "go right ahead dear."Gloria then began to tell me about her "rainbow" wedding...and about a hour later she had worked her way to discussing being alone...regrets,loss of friends, family, husband, work, health,(her leg)memory,money,home,driving...etc.But Gloria also said,"it's hard for me to imagine I'm really 76...I still think the same as when I was 18...I forget sometimes."Thank you all for taking the time to comment and share your thoughts...I just wanted to say as a nurse I have seen so often people presuming our senior citizens as always being "old"...they may have wrinkles and white hair...etc....but they still have the same feelings, needs and desires as you and me,and with no exception, one day we all will be considered a "senior citizen"...and find we are pretty much alone.Have a wonderful weekend...share alittle time... Thank you again, Suzie #227993Nicola Clark October 10, 2003
A very touching image Suzie, very well done. #228260Gabriela Cunha October 11, 2003
Suzie, your comment realy is very touching and very "on the point". just came from spending some time with my 92 year old grandmother, who fortunately is very conscious and still very young and opiniative, and my 72 year old father always says that he is his age, only in the ID card; in real life he can't believe he is that old (he's also a sportist and young in head person)..... just hope I can be like that when I'm their age.Suzie Strasburg October 12, 2003
Thank you Nicola and Gaby for looking at my humble gallery and commenting...this photo meant alot to me and I wanted to do it justice...for Gloria...thank you!:~)))I told Gloria about your many responses and she teared up and said it gave her the "goosebumps"...your comments tell me I did ok with this one....:~))) #229647Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
