My greatest love on the river(besides seeing our fellow mammals, those wonderful Dolphins),is when the tide is low and the mudflats are exposed, like this day in the photo.Thats when the water birds take over.I always try and be there on these low tides, during the daylight hours. It is magic seeing the different species of birds present. Thanks Susie. #2487096

Kate you ornithologist you! Yes I always think of these as Ibis, but thought I best check the great Ozz bird book.It appears they are Australian White Ibis, but my little book states "Rare south of Kimberley( ~1500 miles north of us),but maybe collonising SW(us)" So that is interesting alright, one dose not realise these things until one checks further. Thanks Kate for your comments, and I have learnt something new today as well. #2504691

We saw some similar birds in Africa Joe! How wonderful for you they are coming further south. #2505173
