James, in our neck of the woods everyone has "senior pictures" done. The summer before they start their last year they have profesional portraits taken, then have tons of wallets made to give out to all their friends. I was recently surprised to find out that not all areas do this. Anyway, in our neck of the woods just about everyone has big open houses at the end of the year (June) to celebrate their graduation. The kids will often have up to a dozen partys to attend in a weekend for weeks on end. At this party there are always the senior pictures displayed all over but something I learned last year at a seminar was about senior posters. You can make your photo into a poster size and then hang it up at your party and have people sign it and write their well wishes. I know that Herff Jones offers these posters and my guess is that many of the other professional printers do as well. #163668

I see, we just did the yearbook thing where I'm from. Sounds like a neat idea and a dozen parties a weekend for weeks at a time sounds pretty good too!

Yeah, its a good thing for photographers too. I am cheap compared to the big wigs around here and I can usually make a $800-1000 profit on each senior. Now, I just have to figure out how to get more of them and I would be set. Another idea for the poster is if you are doing a wedding. You can offer an engagement photo and make a poster out of that for people to sign at the reception. #164099

Funny you should mention wedding photos. I actually just did her engagement photo's and am doing their wedding in the dominican republic in january. You said you make 800 to 1000 off of each senior? Is that in American Dollars? I think I'm in the wrong field, I should start doing portraits full time LOL.
I've attached one of the engagement photo's, this is the one going on their invitations. Let me know what you think.

Hi James, first of all, yes that is in American dollars. I make three times more doing senior pictures then I do, doing children. Which is why I want to start getting more seniors. Next year, I will really start advertising.
Second of all, your engagement photo is BEAUTIFUL and I love the dark brown tint. Very pretty! The only thing I can see that would have made it better is to have had his other hand on her arm, so there were not as many hands showing. Hands are almost always better tucked under, folded or somewhat hidden. But the rest of the pose is natural and terrific. Check out this website, he is one of my favorite photographers and was rated in the top 15 best wedding photographers in the world. He brings a lot of romance to his poses and photos and his wife shoots the journalistic style along with him. They make a great team and give classes and seminars all the time. Good luck on that wedding! Is this your first wedding? If it is, I have found that being THE photographer is much easier then just being a guest trying to get good photographs. I was so scared about doing it, and then could not believe how easy it was. #164651

The easiest way is to either use photoshop or paintshop pro.

In photoshop it is under Hue/Sat/Lightness and click colorize, then just adjust the hue until you get the sepia tone.

In paint shop pro its under colors then colorize.
Hope it helps.
PS the photo needs to be in digital form to do this so you will have to scan it if it's a print #164938
