Description

“Totality Sequence Diamond Ring - Diamond Ring” is the title for this photo, taken during the Solar Eclipse at Newport, Vermont, on April 8th, 2024. In the image six shots in sequence are overlayed showing eclipse phases occurring in order: (the moon entering Totality) Diamond Ring, (the moon entering Totality) Baily’s Beads (sunlight appearing through the valleys on the edge of the moon), Totality (with prominences, or gas filaments anchored to the sun, appearing pinkish in color due to being about 4,000 K compared to the sun’s 6,000 degree K Chromosphere), Totality (with prominences), (moon exiting Totality) Baily’s Beads, (moon exiting Totality) Diamond Ring. Also notice, because the path of the moon is Elliptical in orbit the entrance and exit points during Totality are not mirrored. Entered in the Catch-All category (April 2024).
