Paying Their Respects

High Noon ~ Midday is generally not the ideal time for out door photos. There is plenty of light, but when directly overhead it can cause harsh shadows that are unflattering on people. Cows however, do not mind & their shadows are directly under their feet. This field is looking West & the sky was a magnificient clear blue. Still, I thought if was a bit ordinary, so by adding some grunge to the sky and edges, it could make a gorgeous print on giclee' or watercolor paper. The cows are actually grazing around a brick cemetery of John MDowell (1742) & his family. He was one of the earliest settlers of Borden's Grant later called Rockbridge County. 3 image panorama F16 1/50 iso 100 @27mm just before noon
