Lamayuru - Ladakh - India.
Situated at about 11,520 ft, the remote village of Lamayuru is famous for a) having one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries and Gompas in Ladakh and b) for being called as 'moonland' by the locals due to its very unique land surface which closely resembles the surface seen on moon. The mystique of the Lamayuru monastery located here is unmatched by any other in the entire Ladakh region.
