In the line of duty

Category: EOD. This is the Collier Memorial that marks the site of tragedy. It is situated on MIT’s campus in honor of Officer Sean Collier who was shot and killed on April 18th 2013 (Boston Marathon bombings). The design combines age-old structural techniques with new digital creation and structural computation technologies to build an unprecedented form. 32 massive granite blocks mutually support each other, expressing strength through unity.
This photo taken with EF-S10-22 mm lens shows just a part of the memorial. In order to emphasize the beauty of this structure I changed the background because in reality unfortunately it’s quite unattractive. I did not change anything in the foreground. PS CC, Topaz.
