Description

This is a macro image of the bottom of a boat in Port Dalhousie – they are stored in the parking lot for the winter so are easy to access.

The peeling paint so made me think of gold, so I went to work to make that happen. I have really appreciated the Topaz Filter, Restyle. It allows me to colourize abstract pictures and I combined that with photoshop’s replace colour to get the look I wanted.

This aspect of grunge can be limiting – finding good colour combinations that bring wow appeal to an image. Sometimes the composition of the lines, shapes and patterns is wonderful, but lack a definitive colour statement.

I love to find wonderful colours in the world and capture them. But I am not limited to being an ‘as is’ from the camera photographer. I clean up flower defects, remove distracting elements (sometimes they are people), and do what seems to be needed to get to an interesting image.
