Description

"Wabi-Sabi" in the Japanese culture basically means 'finding beauty in imperfection'. In certain styles of Japanese pottery broken pieces would often be mended w/ gold in the cracks & embrace it's imperfections. The principles of repairing & re-purposing are ideals that I grew up w/ & still use everyday. This image represents the beauty in wilted flowers in a worn silver-plated teapot on a bench top that is dried & severely cracked in such a wonderful way! I love all of these things just as they are! This image is light painted in a total dark room w/ an LED flashlight. My goal was to emphasize the fallen petals w/ a hint of light on the flower tops w/o very much on the teapot. F 4 2.50 seconds, exposure compensation -3.00 @27mm w/ an 18-135mm Canon lens.
