Thanks everyone. This the straight color image, though I've thought it would make a great B&W. The only real color is in some of the rocks in the river, and some of the tree trunks. The contrast of the snow and evergreen trees is so extreem that it was difficult to extract the greens from the foliage. Coniferous trees and snow are always a difficult combo. Congratulations on POTD! I used to live on the Lamprey River near UNH in Lee. It looked like this in early winter before the river froze. It gives you the feeling of imminent winter, when everything will seem locked in ice forever, yet there is this fluidity that reminds you it is will be temporary. Great shot and effects. #2523824
