Ca' d'Oro

Extensively restored almost 500 years after its construction in the early 1400's, the palazzo is a museum today, displaying the art collection amassed by its last owner (and restorer), who bequeathed it all to the state in 1916. The name ("Golden House") seems out of place today, but originally the palazzo featured gilded and painted exterior surfaces. The day of my arrival was a nice sunny one, and I was able to shoot this from the water taxi as we passed.
