Pilings and Trees

Uploaded: September 12, 2016 | Entered: September 12, 2016 06:43:50

Description

Taken at DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge, from Nebraska looking into Iowa. Now a lake, this narrow body of water was created in the early 1960's when the Missouri River was re-channeled. The pilings were installed in the early 1940's to prevent erosion of the riverbank. The trees are dead because they were submerged for a prolonged period during the flooding of 2010 and 2011.
I added a light painterly look to emphasize the naturally occurring design elements here.

Exif: F Number: 8, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 2857/1000000 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 100, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 150.00 mm, Model: ILCA-77M2

Well seen and captured, Nikki. I like it in B&W and the treatment used really works well with the image. <>< #1668527
