Cicada Aeternam

Description

One of the defining sounds of summer for me here in the eastern U.S., is produced by perhaps my favorite insect, the periodical cicada. While every summer features at least some cicadas, the huge Great Eastern Brood X emerges en mass only every 17 years; I have great memories of the 2004 and 1987 broods. To satisfy me until 2021 then, a wonderful silver cicada, fully articulated with moving wings, jointed legs and body, about twice life size. Darkroom edits include b/w conversion, heavy vignetting, a faint green cast applied.
