This is 52 year old "Janey" at the San Diego Zoo. She is the oldest Orangutan at the Zoo. A little slower moving now due to arthritis she is always at the window engaging with people. I have seen her watch a small child turning pages of a book, she watched, intently, as a woman was cutting up paper with scissors and she loves when you start taking things out of your purse and showing them to her!!! She is also a wonderful painter!
Just found out today 6/9, that Janey was euthanized due to a heart condition. So glad I got to see her before this happened. She will be missed greatly.
