Gravemarkers of the Fallen

Description

The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial is a World War II cemetery and memorial that honors American troops who died in Europe during World War II. It, like the Arizona Memorial in Oahu, Hawaii, offers an amazing photo op that is also an emotional experience.

When we visited the cemetery in 2015, we participated in a moving ceremony honoring not only the fallen, but also all of the living veterans in attendance.

This shot, beautiful in color, seems to better convey the solitude and significance of the venue. My Canon 17-85 mm zoom was fitted with a polarizer and set to 41 mm.

A beauty of a picture and it touches our heart as we see so many that have fallen. It is moving, beautifully displayed. What a wonderful way to bring it to us, each marker is the story of a soldier and his family and all they did for our freedom. Love it. #11479529
