Great find and presentation Chris! I used to make all my girls clothes and mine but now it has been needing repairs and I haven't had it fixed, guess it will just sit there from now on! :-) #11414350

I made all my girls clothes as well as mine also, but only seem to do repairs & alterations these days. There was a few different displays in this mustum, something for everyone. Pleased you all liked it, thanks. Fancy that John, Tony was born at Inverell too, the only one born here & in a hospital. We met a lady selling cakes who knew of Tony's family, her name was Shirley Day. #11414498

Interesting display, Chris. I've never had one myself but I'm wondering what people use today - just better sewing machines or is that art history? #11415941

I think they have very flash sewing machines these days, they even thread themselves!! I use to do a lot of sewing, now I just mend & alter, but I still have lots of patterns, buttons, threads etc. Thanks for the comment. #11416245

Grandma had a sewing machine a little more updated than the one on the left with the treadle....she made things by hand...amazing sticher. My mom made mose of my clothes growing up on a new machine...I then bought her a newer one when I started to work back in the 60's. Now I have a Bernina...the lowest end model bought in 1993.....it has some fancy stuff, but I still have to thread it.....this is such a neat photo Chris...sure did bring a lot of memories back to me.....Hugs #11418302
