How I missed my train

Uploaded: July 06, 2015 | Entered: July 06, 2015 17:03:00

On July 4th, I had been photographically "covering" the Red Cross activities at the Independence Day celebration in Philadelphia. I decided to forego the fireworks since the evening had been peaceful, with only two lost kids (with happy endings) and I started walking back to the station with 35 minutes to catch a 9:30 train to Yardley. First I had to push my way through the massed throngs in the street, dodging piles of what the police horses left behind. I stopped a few times to snap some interesting people. And then I made a wrong turn somehow and backtracked a couple of blocks. And there I was, at the base of the Comcast Center. It was all locked up but lots was going on in the lobby. I missed the train by about two minutes--and had to wait 90 minutes for the next one. Could have stayed for the fireworks.
