Love Lock: Florence
Uploaded: October 26, 2014 | Entered: October 26, 2014 06:26:55
Florence was the first place I encountered the trend of small locks being applied in bunches to various things (like bridge railings or fences); apparently, placed there by couples to symbolize their unbreakable love for each other. As I was catching my breath after making the fascinating, cramped, arduous climb to the top of the dome, and admiring the view of the bell tower nearby, my focus changed, and I spotted this one lock attached to the metal screen on the safety railing a few feet in front of me. I took several shots, thinking a shallow depth of field would be nice -- but I was surprised as I reviewed, that I needed to go as high as f/25 before the marble patterns of the bell tower, in the background of the image, became somewhat recognizable.
