Description

Mission San Juan Capistrano
How can you not love this place?
Yes, it is not free to get in, but actually they were charging 10 cents as far back as 1900. So now it is around $8-9 to peek a few hundred years into the past. I feel the need to donate so our future generations can appreciate real California treasures as much as we do today.
The ancient architecture, some crumbled, some not, rooms filled with beautiful, precious relics, all are well maintained and protected even though some are left in their decayed condition. The beautiful gardens and calming fountains with huge koi, the cool recorders you can hang around your neck that tell stories as you take yourself on your self guided tour are a special treat. Seeing and experiencing is worth every penny.
Tip: Go on a week day for a non-touristy day, and the reward of peace and the spiritual essence of this wonderful mission is here for the taking.

Oh My Julianne! Such a powerful image! There is so much to delight in...the silhouettes, the simply detailed archway, the cross as a reminder of location and purpose and the framing of the courtyard. Perfect in B&W. A journey into the past with the feelings of a world lost to time. Wonderful! Ann #11161090
