There was a beautiful sunset Thursday night out over the Pacific… and beyond the island rocks of the Orford Reef... and silhouetting a pair of great egrets in flight. I had seen over a dozen of the graceful white creatures that day… exploring the lake. They eventually rested for a spell in the beach grass on the foredune, below where the two in this photo are flying.
