I shoot with a Nikon 70-300mm lens, too, but it's so heavy I have difficulty holding it sometimes. Did you use a tripod on this shot? Pelicans are one of my favorite subject and there are an abundance of them here where I live. #1579428

Thanks for looking at my picture. No, I was hand holding my camera on a commercial fishing boat 5 miles off the coast of Puerto Penasco, MX. I took hundreds of pictures, so some turned out and some didn't.
I rarely use the 70-300 lens any more because of the limitation of the f/stop at maximum zoom. I now use the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 ED VR lens with a teleconverter when I want the reach for distance. #11085908
