I just got my Nikon D70s yesterday (first DSLR camera) and have been having a great deal of fun playing around with it today. This is a picture of my long-haired chihuahua after one of his 'many' naps this afternoon. I am amazed at the amount of detail on the tongue!

I'm very much a beginner so would love any constructive critiques all of you amazing photographers can give. #343417

And quite a tongue it is! :) This is a great closeup shot, nice depth-of-field, good color and detail. It kind of looks like your dog just heard a great joke. I've had my D70s for a couple of months now and am loving it. #2071073

Amy, I'm pretty green too. I've been here a while but I'm a lazy photographer.

As a fellow D70 owner, I can guarantee you are going to have a great time! It's a wonderful camera.

As for the shot you submitted, and keeping in mind that I'm no pro, I think it's a great shot. I like how you composed it and your subject is precious. #2071076

Thanks so much for the nice comments. I think I'm going to be very happy with the D70s. That manual though...tough reading! #2071491

Other than the shadow above the tounge, it's a great detail shot!
Love that cute face!!
Congratulations on your new camera, looking forward of some more of these cute images!! #2074376

once you get to know your camera, along with the regular flash shots, try a different version using ambient light.

That's adorable! I can't believe the detail on the tongue!

Looks like a nice, healthy mouth, too. ;) #2076090
