Description

The horse sculptures pictured here are only 2 of the 8 horses that bound across the garden outside the Hubbard Museum of the American West in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico. Each of the horses is said to weigh between 3000 and 5000 pounds. Yet out of the total of 32 hooves, only 9 of them actually touch the ground. It's a veritable feat of engineering by the renowned artist Dave McGary. I was fortunate to have a dramatic sky that morning for the backdrop.
