Description

Central NY has had a very robust farming community ever sine revolutionary war times. After the lad was first cleared for its timber. the land was then settled for farming. Small farms flourished here for 200 years. back in the 1970's and 80's family farms started to decline and many were abandoned.

In the past 10 years or so there has been an increase in the number of actual working farms here. These new farms are no longer involved in dairy production or even large cash crops. these new farmers are into raising livestock for meat sales. This type of farm even is not as labor intensive as the farms of the past, making what was once a very hard life somewhat easier.

Farming still remains a year round operation and with our hard and sometimes long winters here grain and hay needs to be harvested and stored to maintain the live stock now being farmed here.
