Fresh Fungus May 11

---
I don't remember the exact date when I first noticed this fungus growing on a tree stump beside our driveway. But it looked like two ping-pong balls that day--maybe a little smaller.
----
The next time I took notice was on May 9. It was about seven inches at the widest diameter and was very intriguing. I showed that day's photo to our fascinating photographer, Renata, who is an experienced mushroom forager, and she advised NOT to eat it.
----
By yesterday the monster was over 10 inches wide and looked like this. I blackened the background to spotlight the fungus better. A May 9 photo on the stump is going to be posted in the discussion area.

Awesome capture Michelle, really shows up well against the black background. I hope you don't decide to go away for a couple of weeks as it might take over your house before you return, LOL. #11043897Barbara Waldoch May 13, 2014 0
