These are my Cone flowers from last year, I was out the other day and looking for signs of spring! No tulips in my yard, but these guys were catching some light and my eye! #1566267Stephen Shoff March 09, 2014
I like "Standng Guard". I think the stems need to be selectively lightened so that they stand out better. I also think you may only need 3 stems rather than 4. The right one is a little too far off to the side (or move it in some).I am a little concerned, though, that the image isn't quite sharp enough even though at this size it looks pretty good. Your second image is a bit soft.
I like the color contrast in "Seed Pods", but think the POV isn't quite right, and the pods needed more side to front light rather than side to back light for best effect. #10996678

I love standing guard the lighting is very nice with the trunk of the tree darker makes for a great shot. Its amazing what we see when we look down. well done Beth. #10996958Dale Hardin March 10, 2014
Agree with Stephen's assessment, Beth. On "standing guard" a simple crop to remove the right stem would help. #10997075Peter W. Marks March 10, 2014
It just reminds me that our yard is a brown, dried up mess. lol I do understand what the others are suggesting about the lighting and composition, but hey it's just good to get outside isn't it! #10997179Beth Spencer March 10, 2014
Thank you Rita! Stephen and Dale, I made the crop and lightened the stems selectively. I did that by doing a screen blend on a layer and then inverting the mask and only letting the stems through.Stephen Shoff March 10, 2014
I like the edit, Rita. #10997427Jeff E Jensen March 11, 2014
Yup, the edit looks good, Beth. #10997958Michael Kelly March 11, 2014
Great analysis from Stephen as usual and I like the result in your edit. I still have the impression that everything is a bit on the dark side. #10998057Rita K. Connell March 13, 2014
I like your edit it looks great, but I also like your original. just a little dark. #10999416Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
