Nice framing. I love the red reflections on the shore.

Thanks. I wanted to catch the sunset glow of this tower and the rocks and reflection in the foreground, but struggled with the alignment of the background hills and what to do with the right edge of the frame. #10974477

Hi Jeff, I love this one too. The foreground glow from the tower and the sunset is wonderful. Good capture. You've placed the tower well, along a "Third" line (more or less), which emphasizes it's power in the frame by placement.

The right edge of the frame is fine, but the left edge seems heavy. (Same comment as your Diamond Head shot. Greg Albert's "Simple Secret" book will explain what I mean about visual weight and balance.) Simplifying the shape helps minimize its distracting quality. (I'll post an example of what I mean.) You can't cut it out completely or the bridge has nothing to hold it up. You framed your other two bridge shots well. (But I like the colors of this one best.)

So glad you've discovered photography, and welcome to BetterPhoto. Looking forward to seeing what you shoot next.

Hi Roxie
Thanks for the observations, and lead on the book. I just picked up a copy of it through Amazon and am looking forward to working through it. Karen also mentioned this book.
I uploaded a new version of this photo (v1b) with more of the left bridge support cropped out, to minimize it's mass and not detract focus from the tower.
Appreciate your inputs
