Almost, but not quite working for me Jeff. Any old barn sets me off into a wondering reverie "who, what, where and why" so on that level it does work well. But when I first downloaded it (and BP seemed incredibly slow) I didn't see the bottom stroke and was waiting impatiently for the details on the lower third of the image to appear especially as the bushes and line of grasses on the left looked incomplete at their bases. We have had snow here off and on for a few weeks so one might think I would recognise the stuff by now! So now I have discussed it I have decided it does work for me after all.
Thanks for sharing, Jeff. #1562828

Love this! The old weathered barn, bare trees and snow give this a real desolate feel. I like it :) #10971364

I like it. Looks like a pencil sketch to me.

My only suggestions are compositional. I agree the panorama format is important to this image. I wonder, though if the extension to include those last little segments of grass on one left really contributes. Conversely, if you have some similar narrow band of grass on the right, would including a short stretch of that improve the balance any? But would probably end up with the cabin and trees reduced in size in the overall image.

Question on leveling technique...did you use horizontals or verticals in post-processing, grid in Live-view or tripod level at capture? (I feel safe asking this question...Dale is out of town for the weekend). #10971436

I like it too Jeff..I think the starkness and absence of anything other than what you included adds to the sense of isolation. #10971475

Thanks, everyone!

Peter, I'm glad you were able to come around to liking this :o)

Teresa, it was about 7° and the wind was howling. Desolate is a good description.

Stephen. This crop is the full width, so there isn't anything on the right to add. Even if there were, it would be the trees in the background, so I'm not sure what can be changed. As far as your question on straightening, I did nothing to straighten this in post, and the shot was hand held. I did look at it and tried a couple of things in post to see if it needed to be straightened and decided that I was just making it worse, so I left it as shot. There wasn't a straight line on the barn to straighten from and the horizon worked pretty well as it was.

Here's another perspective of the same barn. #10971647

I like this a lot, Jeff. Always loved simplicity in imagery. Don't think I'd change a thing. #10971652

Jeff, I really like the simplicity and starkness this picture portrays. However I just want to say, I AM REALLY SICK OF WINTER AND SNOW AND COLD AT THIS POINT! I am impatiently awaiting for spring. #10972059

I really like this high key feel on this one, Jeff I especially like your second post. it makes me feel like I am trying to reach the barn and I am almost there... very cool images

oh no did I just sound like Peter story telling? #10972216

Love it, Jeff. But I'm with Beth…I want spring to come. Great vision for this one. #10972596
