The Spiral Grove
Uploaded: November 05, 2005
f/2.8, 1/60s, 8mm, ISO 80, cloudy afternoon. The Spiral Grove is located at Three Rivers GMA in Baldwinsville, NY.
I am often confused as to what category to enter pictures. I think I will enter this in elements of composition, even though they are not as obvious as some. Here is what I was thinking: LINE, COLOR, TEXTURE, Rule of THIRDS.
I took it with my pocket camera because I was walking with a friend and not carrying my SLR.
Adjusted slightly on PS.

Beautiful composition and colours Mary ~ it pays to have even a simple camera along ~ great capture! #2039015Kay Beausoleil November 05, 2005
Here's a lesson for us all: carry that camera! What a shame if you had missed this one, Mary -- great capture! #2039082Jenny Bosmans November 05, 2005
Wow! Absolutely gorgeous and superb capture, Mary! Love this! #2039116Jill Odice November 05, 2005
I have the same problem in figuring out where to enter my photos...This is a wonderful composition Marty. I love how that one tree has so much brilliant color against all those other tall trees. NIce work:-) #2039203Dan McConoughey November 05, 2005
Nice shot Mary. I love this type of pine grove all planted in neet rows. The yellow stand outs (maples?) are a nice contrast. I have the same problem where to enter images as well. I just got a new point and shooter for the same reason as you have yours, don't always want to take the SLR along. Mine fits in a small hip pack and is easy to have along for those have to shots. #2039627Susana Ms Heide November 05, 2005
This is very, very beautiful! Even though there are many branches and lines it does not look distracting! The composition is obviously well thought out! Well done! #2039801Joy Rector November 06, 2005

Thank you so much Susan, Kay, Jenny, Jill, Dan, Susana, Laurentiu, joy, Ermanno, Amalia, Tammy, and Gail for your kind comments. This is a beautiful and deeply spiritual place for me. I'm so happy you like it.Some pictures just don't seem to fit neatly into the categories, Jill.
Dan, I love the little pocket camera I have, it's so convenient. It does have soem ceative abilities, but not as much as the SLR of coruse. But what a relief not always> to have the millstone.
LOL!

Superb scenic capture, Mary! I love the contrasting colors! Fantastic composition! #2052244Joy E. Cobb November 10, 2005
I definitely see what you're saying about the lines here, Mary. You've outdone yourself. One of the prettiest fall scenes I've seen. Love the round shapes of the understory against that strong vertical 'canopy'. #2059081Mary N C. Taitt November 10, 2005
Thank you Sandra, Sylvia, Kate, Goshka, April, Lani, and Joy for your kind and generous comments. Mary :-)(I do love the SPiral Grove!!) #2059265
