Sylvanus Brown House
Uploaded: September 13, 2013
Catch All.Built in 1758.The Sylvanus Brown House, the oldest building at the Slater Mill Historic Site, is a typical dwelling of the mid-late eighteenth century. A small, solid looking building, the house was moved to this location in the late 1960's. Except for the basement and chimney, the original structure is intact. The sparse furnishings conform to those of Sylvanus Brown's 1824 estate inventory and include a loom, spinning wheel and other tools used to make cloth by hand.

Wonderful clarity, colors, and textures, Bobby! Looks like a nifty place to visit and imagine "if these walls could talk" the kind of stories they'd tell. Thanks for the history lesson.

Hey Bobby. Now I could definitely see myself living in this style of house. Would love to have it all open with rustic pieces of furniture. The style is so beautiful and I love the stone work part of it to. I would build it just the way it is here. Gorgeous colors and a beautiful reminder of the craftsmanship from years gone by.Liz blahh September 14, 2013 0
