Description

I took this big guy's picture at Bent's Old Fort, Colorado. The oxen at the fort are Red Devon, a breed originally from England that came to Jamestown in 1623. All of them are steers and are trained to pull using verbal commands. Near La Juncta in the southeastern corner of the state, this National Historic Site is a little off the beaten path; but if you ever get a chance, it's wonderfully restored and well worth a visit.
