Thank you Stephen. The edge was somewhat taken off my enjoyment of my vacation by not feeling too well but I did get to see my twin girl grandchildren (6months old) for the first time. That more than made up for it! #10796070

Nice to see your post, Peter, and I hope you're feeling better. Congratulations are in order for twin granddaughters!

Nice story-telling image here. You've captured the intensity of this man's work and laboring of the horse. #10796195

I like this and the treatment you applied. Nice work!

Thank you all so much my friends. With a CT scan scheduled for this Friday and an MRI for the 23rd I can't pretend I am not a little concerned but just to reassure you that my quirky humor hasn't deserted me, I will tell you that I don't think my problem is an in-growing toenail!
But now on the positive side and the source of much joy I will show you Elizabeth and the twins and yes I feel thrice blessed.

Another memory jogger for me Peter. We used to use a similar rake to put our alphafa into windrows for later pickup. However, we used a small tractor instead of a horse. #10796835

Peter, I've really missed you! This looks like hard work-it that man's whole arm covered in tattoos? #10796860

Thank you Dale. The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum covers 45 acres of beautiful rolling countryside near Chichester, W.Sussex. It has a number of these Shire horses and using them for tasks like this is great for showing the school educational trips how life was way back then. You had a tractor! Wow, you were one of those rich folks Dale. The prime object of the museum was to preserve farm and countryside buildings from the middle ages through Victorian times before the developers demolished them. They were moved and beautifully restored and are filled with the appropriate tools, furnishings etc from the age when they were first built and lived in.
The museum's interesting website is here:- http://www.wealddown.co.uk/

Hi Lisa. Thank you. Yes. both of his arms and hands were covered in tats. Raking isn't particularly hard work as these docile Shire horses just plod along with no 'attitude'. They get to the end of a row and it takes just the lightest hand on the rein to turn them in the opposite direction. #10796918

Thank you Elaine. I am not sure if there is something wrong with BP or just with me as I get double posts and then photos missing. Perhaps I was away too long and out of practice. Your comment is date-stamped before I replied to Dale and Lisa but it certainly wasn't up when I replied to them. I guess with the hot weather and all the kids still at home playing on their computers, smart phones, tablets etc all the bandwidth is congested. It is not good for us old folk just trying to keep up with the world! #10796985

Yea Peter is back!!! well I am not going to be icky sweet like everyone else you need to clone out that block behind his head, is this picture straight, I am sure you could add a little contrast.....Now go ahead and tell us why you wont do it. then I know you are back...LOL! we have miss you! #10798227

Peter W. Marks August 06, 2013

That's my girl Rita! You have asked and shalt be given!
I submit a unique image of a Shire horse pulling a hay rake; I submit a picture of my beautiful 6 mnth old twin grand-daughters and what does my friend Rita comment on? My avatar that has been with me since March 2006! Now after a couple of months absence I remember why I like Phellos- you are the weirdest bunch of characters I have ever been associated with and that's why I am holding my head but still smiling! #10798361

I think the twins are very cute!!! #10798726

Rita K. Connell level-classic August 07, 2013

you are right Peter I had so much fun giving you a hard time I forgot to mention how cute your granddaughter are. It so brings back memories for me when we brought my two little darling home they weight 5 pound all wet, and I had a 14 month as well. Looking at them with Elizabeth, you can't say they weren't enjoying all the attention. #10800139

Debbie E. Payne August 07, 2013

One for Rita. She is welcoming you back to you "place" in Phellos. We have missed you for your stories, your dissertations and your PPOV's -- Peter's point of views. Will be thinking of you on Friday. Keep us in the loop, and BTW, the picture of Elizabeth and those sweet grand babies is priceless. But I must concur - the block behind his head could well be taken out, but you do what you want to with it! #10800153
