You never cease to charm us with unusual subject matter, Lisa. Your ability to travel and share the culture you find is a true gift for us.this is no exception. I like the feeling you've conveyed but think some correction to the lens distortion would be helpful. Also just a tad of sharpening might be beneficial. #1537438

Certainly is very nice shadow to light transitions on the columns, Lisa.If you hadn't named the image "shadow_light" I would have suggested toning down the bright in the skylight and the floor, and perhaps opening the darkest shadows on the columns up just a bit.
Great composition and story line. #10778418

Thanks very much, Dale. I think this photo could be sharpened too; what do you suggest I use to correct lens distortion? Thanks, Stephen. I did tone down the floor a little bit, when I opened the shadows it seemed to lose some of the mood. #10778460

Lisa, first would straighten it using the center pillar as a reference. Don't use the edge, use the center line and your eye. Then use the image/transform/distort tool. #10778466Jeff E Jensen July 24, 2013
This is really interesting, Lisa. My first thought was that I wish she had more room in the frame in front of her, but the more I look at it, the more I like the mystery that is created by not knowing where she is going. Very cool! #10778823Elaine Hessler July 24, 2013
This is really neat-I am going to miss these exotic pictures! I agree that the bright area on top needs to be toned down. Do you think too much would be missing if you cropped it off? I also was going to suggest to fix the distortion-you may get a little cropped off the sides when you use this tool. Maybe tone down the light on the floor too? Looking forward to the edits! #10779035Rita K. Connell July 24, 2013
great shot Lisa, I really like this, it feel like she is taking a short cut through. as for the light at the top it is needed for the light on the floor. one on the floor is a little bright. #10779629lisa anderson July 25, 2013
I left packing too late so didn't have time to edit. I will try in 10 days after Yosemite. Thanks for the commentsDebbie E. Payne July 25, 2013
I like the mystery of where she is going or where she has been. I do think the suggestions would make this image even stronger. Martin and I came this close to going to Egypt but our timing was awful -- we couldn't have gone even if we had wanted to -- travel was not advised a couple of years ago when all that unrest happened. So we ended up in Las Vegas and Zion National Park instead. Not quite the same. #10780839Beth Spencer July 30, 2013
This is very interesting, I will look forward to your edits. I am also looking forward to seeing Yosemite pictures. #10788939Chris Budny August 04, 2013
I've always wanted to see (any!) ruins and monuments in Egypt... some day!Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
