Islands of The Orford Reef

Uploaded: May 13, 2013

Description

In this sunset photo taken Saturday, May 11th, all the major islands (“rocks”) of The Orford Reef are visible. My recent daily photos have captured the sun setting behind the southern-most rocks… West Conical Rock and Arch Rock… which appear on the left side of the photo. A comparison photo (Sunset beyond The Port Orford Reef) showed daily sunset for April 30th through May 3rd to illustrate how much the point where the sun sets changes on a daily basis. During the summer solstice on June 21, the sun will be setting well north (right) of Best Rock, which is the large rock on the far right.

Quote of the Day: “When pain brings you down, don't be silly, don't close your eyes and cry, you just might be in the best position to see the sun shine.” – Alanis Morissette
